What is not to love--where do I begin? Actually that''s not a fair way to begin, this isn't a bad album--it's just not good enough to recommend spending 16 bucks on. When I first read about Imperial Teen, I was immediately interested because according to this particular writer, they were The Pixies of the 21st Century. Though, the album's first two tracks bear a enough of an instrumental resemblance, comparing these guys to The Pixies is pretty much like comparing the Goo Goo Dolls to The Replacements.
A much better estimation of Imperial Teen would be Foo Fighters meets Weezer--however possessing only watered down amounts of the flint-hard spark of the former or the quirky charm of the latter. Curiously, on tracks 3 and 8 their primary singer, Will Biltmore, does an incredibly accurate impression of P.J. Harvey. Go figure. Still and all I kind of liked listening to it, I just wouldn't pay for it. It reminds me of a first album of a band that will eventually go on to become something cool. What's not to love about that?
