The past month has given us several American debuts from some sexy, sexy boys. I certainly don't need to call anyone's attention to Ricky Martin or Robbie Williams, but you may not have heard of the most interesting of this bumper crop of dreamy solo hunks--Jason Faulkner.
Though Ricky and Robbie's releases are rather respectable, they pretty much play it safe, and keep the Crayola inside the lines. Faulkner on the other hand, is a good bit more gifted. He wrote and performed everything that you'll hear on this rich and rewarding record, and he looks like Brad Pitt's little brother--the one that got the looks in the family.
Can You Still Feel is all over the place in terms of musical styles, but if I had to pin it down, I'd say it'Õs located on the alternative map about where Duncan Sheik and XTC would intersect. Every bit as interesting and more consistently likeable than Scott Weiland's solo experiment. The same sort of creative intensity, minus the withdrawal symptoms. Cool record . . . and since you may have to order it--youÕre going to have to take my word.
