In case you're wondering who Johnny Marr is, he's one of the most celebrated quitarists of our time. Known primarily for his seminal work as the driving sonic force behind the Smiths, Marr has gone on to become a much sought after producer and on his newest solo release Boomslang he proves that he's no slouch as a singer as well. With all this said his newest incarnation with the Healers is a respectable but spotty effort that deserves it's 3 star rating by virtue of the songs "Down on the Corner" and "Caught Up"--these tracks would not sound the least bit out of place on a Smith's best-of compilation. Overall Boomslang is just a bit too flat to wholeheartedly endorse to anyone other than die-hard Smiths fans.
