Truly Ms. Lang has carved out a unique niche for herself in popular music. Few musicians can make up their own rules and remain in the good graces of the record buying public and the record companies. In jest I might say that she is only a scant few hormones apart from her male counterpart, Chris Isaac--both retro-crooners make music that recalls the great balladeers of yesteryear.

My complaint with Invincible Summer is the sicky-sweet production that renders the first five or so songs as mealy as an old Jonathan apple. However, the second half of the album is trim of these excesses and showcases Lang's laser sharp vocal virtuosity at it's best. There are half a dozen really good songs here--for fatal K.D. fans there may be several more than that.
