After the extremely below average Lenny album, I figured that there wasn't any possible way that Lenny Kravitz could sink any lower than that after a string of sub par releases. Congrats Lenny you've proved me wrong. Baptism is an all-time low in your totem pole of sucking. What the hell happened to this guy? His first three albums were so good! Everything since "Are You Gonna Go My Way" though has seemed just average or just below. But good lord, nothing could prepare me for this horrible mess. Where do I start' I guess with "I Don't Want To Be a Star" which is a real glorified dog turd. Poor Lenny doesn't want to be a star? He just wants his Chevy and an old guitar" You'd think he was chummy with Toby Keith with crap lines like that. It also doesn't help that he sings the song as obnoxiously as he possibly can. (Somewhere between a third rate David Bowie style lounge singer and the voice of a cracking 13 year old boy.) The next track "Lady" is no treat either. "I'm beggin' for this little lady cause I tell you she's cool, she's divine, I know she's a super lady." Just plain awful! The song is full of pappy crap lines like that.

What's also extremely sad is the next track after that titled "Calling All Angels." Wouldn't you think it's sad that Lenny rips off the sound of the boy band All-4-One's "I Swear" AND still think that the boy band's song is better' Ouch!! "Sistamamalover" is a laughable rip off of everything Sly Stone ever held dear, but the first single "Where Are We Runnin'' is the true slap in the face to music lovers the world over. The fact that Lenny rips off ZZ Top's "Sharp Dressed Man" and tries to pass it off as something of his own, is a joke. I hope Billy Gibbons sues his ass off for that one. At least the second single that will come out, "California," is a good song. But that is only one of two on the whole album. Lenny I've got some advice for you. If you ever see someone come running at you with a fork you'd better run because you are done brother. Baptism is an absolute wash in the proverbial septic tank.
