Mellowdrone is seriously one the best indie-rock acts I've heard in a long time. The great thing about them is the fact that they have no singular sound. They're able to go all over the place and dabble with all sorts of different styles. The first track, "Tinylittle," sounds like a guitar and mini-casio keyboard tinkerfest which then shoots right into the beautifully soaring piano-and-guitar anthem, "Fashionably Uninvited." Trust me, this one song has all the qualities that make up a great indie-rock song and is more than worthy of radio airplay. After that is the creeping "And Repeat," which has the dreamy pop sound straight from the bands of Jetset Records, while "No More Options" is an industrial attack reminiscent of Stabbing Westward. "Beautiful Day" is a funky take on the sound of early-80's Depeche Mode, and the last song, "Bitelip," starts off as a quiet ballad then morphs into an explosive powerhouse masterpiece. Although there's only 6 songs on this debut album, they're all so wonderfully concieved and orchestated and executed to perfection that you'll find yourself listening to them over and over again. With just one listen to "Fashionably Uninvited," you're going to want to rethink your invitation list
