Sadly, this album did not reach expectations. Morphine has been releasing amazing albums for many years, with one of the most bizarre band line ups in rock. A bassist/vocalist, tenor sax, and drummer--sounds more like a jazz, or beat band than a seriously dark rock band. These guys really rock with this line up. Morphine fuses these instruments together to produce a sound both catchy and unique. The vocals are deep and reminiscent of Nick Cave and the music is droning with percussion that at points can only be described as toolbox clatter.

Mark Sandman, the front man for this band, died last year during a performance in Italy. This was truly a devastating loss to both the band and the world of music. This record is a collection of songs that were recorded prior to Mark's untimely death. They are good and worth listening to, especially if you are a fan. But, this record does not define this band and unfortunately may taint their legacy. If you have not heard Morphine before and are interested, skip this album and pick up No Cure For Pain. If you are a fan, this one is at least worth a listen; it is an ominous finale from an intensely creative band.
