If someone were to approach me and inquire my opinion on the new Natalie Imbruglia album I would shrug my shoulders and apathetically mutter a noise that would sound something like, Òeh.Ó ItÕs not bad , but itÕs not such a noteworthy record that I would suggest someone have it in their collection. I can hear influences from a few irate female songwriters such as Ani Difranco and Alaniss Morissette, but she doesnÕt seem to have the musical bite to support her lyrical bark. It does, however, have a few good qualities. Unlike her debut album, Left Of Middle, this record is more theme-oriented and vocally it sounds as if she actually cares about the meaning behind a song or two. Which is always good. On the other hand there are a few songs such as ÒSatelliteÓ and ÒWrong ImpressionÓ that seem very weak, processed and lacking of an artistic backbone. Overall, I wouldnÕt recommend this one. You should definitely borrow it from a friend first.
