I don't think many people will argue that Nine Inch Nails are the be all, end all of industrial music. Despite not being the genre's creator NIN gave a gothic sensibility to a music lacking direction and quickly became one of the industries top visionaries. But if you ask me, I think NIN impact was far more visual than musical. For example, if you've seen The Cell, The Crow, Dracula 2000, if the main character doesn't resemble Trent Reznor certain parts of the movie will remind you of a NIN video. Along with protegees Marilyn Manson, NIN were there to rise from the ashes of grunge rock and lead a disenfranchised generation to the next wave of music. While I don't think this live release is anything more than a shallow attempt to buy more time, this is actually a pretty good recording. If you want to fork out the extra money you get a bonus disc with the special edition. ItÕs called Still and on it you get to hear songs such as "The Day the World Went Away." Along with your old favorites you get a couple new ones like the albumÕs Cure-esque title track which is in my opinion one of their best works yet. If you are a die hard Nails fan this will be yet another nice addition to your collection. Trent Reznor is truly a genius and I have nothing but respect for the guy, but lets be honest, we would all much rather have a new studio album.
