Though Peter Case is hardly a household name, there was a day when he could have easily become a superstar. Fronting his band the Plimsouls, Case was riding the big wave on the strength of his hits "Zero Hour," and "A Million Miles Away," (Featured prominently, for those old enough to remember in the Nicholas Cage film Valley Girl.) Poised on the threshold, Case turned his back on Rock Stardom, and chose to take the road less traveled. Since then he's produced an impressive volume of rootsy folk music--kind of a Bob Dylan style with a voice that I can compare to John Lennon. I could blow you away by playing choice cuts from his catalogue. He can turn a phrase around a gorgeous chorus hook with the best. He's one of my favorites. While Beeline has plenty of noteworthy moments, it's not the album I would choose to wow you with. After his last two outings, Full Service, No Waiting and Flying Saucer Blues, Beeline flies in a bit below the radar of my expectations. I'll keep you posted.
