Before long I will have been a fan of Peter Gabriel for 30 years. Back in the day when he was Prime Mover of Genesis they were my favorite band. Though I've watched his progression into mainstream stardom with pleasure, he was once the bravest of all art-rock pioneers. Up finds Pete straddling the decades with a chameleon of a record that recalls the raw pathos of his first few solo albums and yet continues his sonic explorations. It's certainly darker than anything we've heard from him for years, but then again Genesis has always been about Revelations.
