Roland Orzabal is best known as the lead singer of 80's superstars Tears for Fears. While I am a fan, it was Tears for Fears' 90's efforts that I loved. Elemental was one of my favorite records of the 90's. Now, Orzabal returns with his first solo record, the melodic Tomcats Screaming Outside. The album has been available for some time in the UK, but it's just now making it's debut in the states.

On this new record, Orzabal goes from dark and dreary Under Ether, to happy and upbeat For the Love of Cain to downright radio friendly Low Life. My favorite tune on the record is the catchy Snowdrop. And while the album does occasionally misfire, it has enough winning tunes to make it an outstanding accomplishment.

I love every Tears For Fears album. But this is a new step in a slightlly different direction, none the less this is one of my all time fav. cd's. I really like the power that "Snowdrop" has, and "Maybe our Days are Numbered" is a perfect follow track for it, it flows together perfect. All together it is a great album.

My top 5 recomendations are:

Roland Orzabal-Tomcats Screaming Outside

Tom Waits-Mule Variations

Pink Floyd-The Wall

Nine Inch Nails-All The Could Have Been(s.e.)cd 2

Insane Clown Posse-The Great Milenko
