I would have to disagree with the Boneman, in that I'd say 2005 was a very good year in music. Sufjan emerged as everyone's favorite new "indie" act, while Kanye West solidified his significant impact on hip-hop, and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah has to be the most-hyped band since NSYNC. 2005 also saw the progression of innovative genres such as the neo-folk or freak-folk movement and the stirring London-based grime scene with the release of Kano's debut and both excellent Run the Road compilations. The U.S. was also treated to two amazing albums from Dungen and the Go! Team, which finally received a proper stateside release. There's not enough that could possibly be said about this year's music, so without further ado, these are the best albums of 2005 that should be etched into your brain.
