This is Skylines first ever full-length release. Their last was some split with Stars are Falling and I have to say that track one on Identity is pretty heavy, sadly in the end it gets stamped with a big fat "weak." Once it seques into "The Pugilist's Lament" that "jud-dud-jun-jun-ju…jun-jud" riffing action screams, "Ah shit! Sick metal-core breakdown," then it hauls ass again to fade out. "Title Belt Return Policy" rings in sounding more serious than ever. I'm feeling this song. That G-force-inducing sudden halt jarred my eye sockets. Out of nowhere I tell ya. Hey isn't this the same breakdown as the last song? Pantera would be flattered over "Annihilation" I'm sure with that uncanny "Five Minutes Alone" style. Either that, or Dimebag himself is rolling a joint over in his grave. A little inspiration goes a long way I suppose. And I ask myself again and again - why would you name a song "Annihilation" anyway? How cheesy is that shit; it's metal man. That's like an emo band naming a song "Fragile Little Thing" or something. Way lame. Random melodic moments scream "I'm a PUSSY look at me!" and do nothing more than make my eyes roll. Fuck that shit; keep it heavy, this isn't screamo now. Skylines stick to that blown out metal-screamo-fashion core mold way too much. And while a three second pause before the second part is sultry and enticing…constant jun-jun techniques ruin the cute factor and replace it with filler and no bawd oss.

Instant quickness on "Veir Heroius Subliminus" is blood coagulatingly bludgeoning but it's the mandatory "oh, one of those songs." It's an instrumental—you know like the chill pill song that is needed to break up the daunting twenty-two minutes of short songs with even shorter attention spans. Will they be around for a while? Humph? Maybe, but it's hard to find new ideas when you're stuck in the rut of using old ones. Verdict - Did I just listen to an album?
