Modern metal is so watered down and littered with cheap gimmicks, that one has to wonder what happened to true brutal headbanging metal? Whatever happened to the almighty guitar solo and music fast enough to break the sound barrier? I'm happy to report that I've stumbled onto a band that metes out the kind of unrelenting, non-conformist metal that I crave. Soilwork throws in a little taste from all of the metal genres I love Swedish thrash, Black metal, Power metal and Hardcore.

On Natural Born Chaos, true metal connoisseurs get a healthy dose of sledgehammer riff work, surgeon-like precision and even the long lost solo! This record could be huge if it caught on, there are some seriously catchy songs on this record but they are delivered in such a way as to not compromise their thrash-minded integrity. To give you a better frame of reference Soilwork brings the goods with the same sonic smack as Opeth, In Flames, Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth. Furthermore, if you can get into Pantera, Alice in Chains, and earlier Metallica you'll find Soilwork much to your liking. As for fans of Limp Bizkit, P.O.D and their legions of copycat, whiny, modern rap-metalers be very afraid! In a perfect world Soilwork would bury them all.
