Annie Clark a.k.a. St. Vincent is definitely one of the most unique women working in the music world today. Cutting her teeth as the lead guitarist for the likes of Sufjan Stevens and The Polyphonic Spree, Clark is now her own lead guitarist and Actor is sonically and creatively more unique than her 2007 solo debut Marry Me.

With how distinctive her arrangements and vocals are, St. Vincent is definitely reminiscent of a Bjork, Feist or even My Brightest Diamond. Completely unpredictable in every way, some songs feel like they're careening dangerously out of control with their Electronic laced production ("Marrow"), but then she can easily bring them back to a quiet hush with just a simple piano ("The Party") which can almost give her a Kate Bush like quality. First single "Actor Out of Work" is definitely the most accessible, straight forward Rock tune that Clark has recorded thus far and is probably her best chance to hit the big time, but don't be surprised if she just stays our little secret for the next little while. I promise you this though, if she keeps making high quality product like Actor, in the next few years she won't be anyone's little secret anymore at all because she has the goods to be a full blown phenomenon.
