This is speed-metal, thrash-metal, death-metal, faster hardcore, or whatever you want to call it at its best. This is for metal or hardcore fans who listen primarily for the heavy musical elements, and not for gimmicks and visuals. This is just straight, super-fast, punkish metal with occasional slowdown breakdowns done in an epic, 80s-style Metallica fashion. Standouts include the slower, double-bass-pulsating "Leech," and the head-banging, cymbal-crashing ragers, "Hollow Ground" and "Under the Surface." Pretty much all the songs here started or eventually got fast enough to make your head spin (most notably the unbelievable rapid-fire-speeding "Revelation" and "Victim Iced"), but they all have enough start-stop time changes and impressive guitar and drum work to keep them from being boring or sounding too same-ish from track to track. This is definitely one solid metal album that will surely be appreciated by all fans of the metal or hardcore genre.
