Just when you think you know every great band out there in the music industry, one comes in from the blind side and knocks you for a loop. Released nearly two years ago on the Scandinavian label Burning Heart, these garage rockers from Fagersta, Sweden are finally hitting the American shores. These guys are the very essence of defining the word cool. Wearing all black suits and white ties, and with names like Vigilante Carlstroem, Nicholaus Arson, Dr. Matt Destruction, Howlin' Pelle Almqvist, and Chris Dangerous, you know they've come to kick ass. Their sound is a mix between Elvis Costello's wit, Joe Jackson's sharp and short guitar play, and Johnny Rotten's fierce punk growl. Their single "Hate to Say I Told You So" is giving nu-metal a run for it's money on rock radio, and deservedly so. Pick this one up and I guarantee The Hives will be your new favorite band.
