When I first listened to this album, I could have sworn I was listening to an acoustic version of the Get Up Kids. I later found out this was indeed the mellower side project of Get Up Kids singer Matthew Pryor. Because I'm a softie for pretty much all acoustic singer/songwriter stuff, I found this album to be almost flawless all the way around. Most of the album is full of acoustic tracks in the style of Elliott Smith, Dashboard Confessional, Badly Drawn Boy, etc., and they sound just as good the work of the compared artists if not better. The acoustic numbers are spiced up with elements like accordion, slide guitar, and piano in particular, which is what made the ballad "Drama Queen" the best song on the album by far. Different tracks include the electric ballads, "Lonely Hearts" & "Make Me Change My Mind," and the organ-laced, Counting Crows-ish tunes, "Proceed With Caution" and "I Won't Run Away." Although the music isn't anything completely inventive, this is definitely the perfect kind of music for anyone looking to kick it and relax to and enjoy.
