The dynamic Danish duo of Sune Rose Wagner and Sharin Foo recorded this 8 song EP in Wagner's bedroom and as the album cover declares all of the songs are Recorded in Glorious B flat Minor." Their signature tune "Attack of the Ghost Riders" is enjoying alot of airplay in hipper circles, and their debut offering is being received with a good deal of next-big-thing buzz. Mixing a darkened surf guitar assault with a gothic slant that reminds of Love and Rockets or more recently, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, they stretch their chosen key signature about as far as it will go. Their acerbic wordplay and droll harmonies smack of the mid-eighties flash-in-the-pan husband and wife duo Timbuk 3. For all the hoopla, the Raveonettes self imposed three-chord B flat minor theater of operations keeps this first outing from being all that impressive. The tracks run together like variations of the same song and it does wear a bit thin. On the way however is a full length album expected later this spring that will hopefully find these great Danes exploring new chordal horizons.
