This album might not quite be everything you want, but it certainly contains a lot of things you'll like. In general, Vertical Horizon intersects a line in the R.E.M. meets Collective Soul coordinates. More accurately they sound very much like a favorite band of mine called The Posies.

You may have heard their debut single, "Everything You Want," on the local airwaves--pretty good song. The album is consistently good, it's biggest weakness being a little too much same-ishness from song to song, both in tone and text--but they're a good step up from the likes of Tonic, Third Eye Blind and Matchbox 20. What more could you want?
