You can stop holding your breath in anticipation for Soundgarden's reunion. This CD might as well be called Soundgarden II. But don't get me wrong, this album is the best thing I have heard the members of Soundgarden release in a couple of years. This disc sounds like a freight-train at some points and a psychedelic garage experiment at others.

John McBain, formerly of Monster Magnet, exhibits an amazing proficiency on guitar with his heavy fuzz-ridden riffs. Matt Cameron, former drummer of Soundgarden, demolishes his drums with an array of astonishing rhythms and fills. This band is ready to lead the way into the twenty-first century--with late 60's style space rock (ala T. Rex, Badfinger, The Zhombies, Revolver era Beatles). The only disappointing aspect of this album is that the vocals, at times, sound so uncannily like Chris Cornell you think you're listening to the Garden that is Sound.

I don't know about you, but when I purchase an album from a new band, I want it to sound unique. My first listen through this album was an exercise in name that influence. Then again I like all of the bands that the Wellwater Conspiracy remind me of. You can't always get what you want--but if you like your rock to roll like the Stones you should look into joining the Brotherhood of Electric.
