There's no doubt that Xzibit is one hell of an M.C. With a gruff, raw voice and lyrics reminiscent of Ice Cube's Predator days, X has un-doubtedly proven himself as an artist to be reckoned with. Unfortunately his latest album, Man Vs. Machine hasn't. The problem though doesn't seem to lie with Xzibit himself. The lyrics are sharp and on key for the most part, but the production falls flat. The beats are overly synthesized to the point of annoyance, and when the digitalization decreases, the un-melodic R&B hooks increase sounding like a half-assed Tupac track. But Tupac managed to blend them perfectly, whereas the producers on this album never seem to find any common ground. A shame too, as Dr. Dre's name is plastered all over this CD. Overall a good spin once or twice, but like most rap albums these days, entirely forgettable.
