Within 30 seconds of listening of Fever to Tell, it's easy to hear why the Yeah Yeah Yeah's are being heralded as this year's saviors of rock and roll. Karen O's ferocious vocals, very remiscent of Siouxsie Sioux, rip roar and howl throughout the first three fourths of the album. Nick Zinner plays guitar like he's ramming a cheese grater acoss his guitar strings and he really couldn't stand it any other way. And drummer Brian Chase sounds like he can barely sit in his seat because he's so excited--Stuart Copeland would be so proud. Songs such as "Tick" and "Date With the Night" push, pull, and bounce all over your head you almost feel you should be wearing a helmet. Karen O oozes sex out of every moan, and squeal, and it's hard not to have a sheepish grin while listening. But the secret weapon of the Yeah's is the last three tracks.

"Maps," "Y Control," and "Modern Romance" all bring their point across in a subdued but suprisingly more powerful approach. You can tell these songs are special to the band, and they are handled with extreme care. On "Maps," Karen mutters in Chrisse Hynde fashion, "Wait, stay, they don't love you like I love you." These three kids aren't the kings and queen of rock and roll just yet, but they're getting awfully close. Definitely a band on the rise.
