Superb and sublime. An entire album that combines graceful acoustic melodies with soothing vocals. Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker spent most of the nineties behind the scenes in their production seats--but their slow evolution resulted in remixes of Radiohead and Lenny Kravitz among others. Their first album, Simple Things, is as brilliant as it's electronic/trip-hop predecessors. The duo is often labeled as the British Air and obvious comparisons can also be made to Morcheeba and Nightmares On Wax. Simple Things alternates between big, warm soaring instrumentals and soulful gems that showcase the stirring vocal chops of Sophie Barker, Sia Furle and Mozez. Smart arrangements and lush compelling grooves make it a delight. One of 2001's best.
