For those wondering, yes – we do plan on throwing Horror-Fest again. And in fact, this will be our fifth time presenting the event. In celebration, we have a couple of surprises up our sleeves. Through the first four years of Horror-Fest, we've screened Aliens, Creepshow, The Exorcist, Psycho, The Shining, Evil Dead II, Poltergeist, John Carpenter's The Thing, Dead Alive, Ghostbusters, The Howling, The Omen, Fright Night, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Re-Animator, George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead, Halloween, Nightmare Before Christmas, Arachnophobia, and Beetlejuice. Not too shabby. Thankfully, there are thousands upon thousands of terrific horror treasures to choose from, so 2006 should prove to be plenty entertaining.
We're still banging out all the gory details, but we can unveil a few of the goodies we have planned.
Firstly, as was the case the last two years, we will not be holding Horror-Fest 2006 during Halloween weekend. This year, you get to spend Halloween on Friday the 13th. That's right! As fate would have it, Friday the 13th falls in October this year, so we're taking full advantage of the situation. Horror-Fest 2006 will take place on the 13th and 14th of October.
As usual, this spine tingling event will take place in glorious St. George, UT. You're probably thinking to yourself; ST. GEORGE,UT! WHAT, ARE YOU KIDDING ME? THERE'S NOTHING IN ST. GEORGE, UT! Actually, it's quite the kick ass little town, and if you happen to be coming in from another area, keep in mind it's only an hour and a half out of Las Vegas. So you can hit St. George for all the ghoulish proceedings, then you can head to Sin City and lose your rent money. It'll be the perfect weekend.
Horror-Fest 2006 will be held at a few locations in St. George, UT, including Westates Theaters (movieswest.com), and The Electric Theater (theelectrictheater.com). More details coming soon.
As for the line-up, we do have a few movies locked in. We're going to be presenting a special screening of Steven Spielberg's thriller masterpiece Jaws. The location will be revealed shortly. Let's just say, we won't be showing it at a theater.
Also slated are screenings of the 80's cult classic zombie flick Return of the Living Dead, and John Carpenter's underrated sci fi thriller They Live.
There will be several other flicks screened as well. They'll be announced shortly.
Horror-Fest 2006 is always a blast, and while it isn't on the same scale as Butt-Numb-A-Thon or some of the other outstanding geek site sponsored fests, we take pride in creating a great time for all you big time horror fanatics.
Watch for our detailed information on Horror-Fest 2006. We should have it up by September 2nd!
